I heard on the radio this morning that NASA has declared Earth to be 50% brighter at Christmastime. How? All of the Christmas lights that we pin, clip, staple and wrap around our houses.
My husband and I are a fan of icicle lights, and among other things we clip these to our roof line each year. Each individual bulb on it’s own is tiny, and extremely fragile. My patient husband is continuously replacing the broken bulbs. So imagine if an individual bulb decided it was too little, too delicate to accomplish anything on it’s own. Why even bother to shine? How much light could such a diminutive bulb possibly emit?
Yet together, these minuscule lights collectively make the world 50% brighter! There’s a lesson to be learned here, my friends.
Shine your light. Even when you feel small. Even when you feel tired. Don’t let the dust and grime of this world dim your glow. And don’t let the vastness of darkness keep you from shining. Don’t be such a loner. Together we can make this world a better place. Perhaps even more than 50% brighter.
Wishing you & yours the Merriest of Christmases,
